2024 GGL Season NFC Predictions by GM Mellon

Here is my NFC predictions for 2024:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC North

Best QB: Green Bay Packers
Outstanding player: While the Packers, in my opinion have the best current QB, the Bears look to be in amazing shape with rookie Caleb Williams- Bears, 22 years old (Rookie), 76 AWR, 93 THP, 78 THA, 94 INJ, 91 TGH

Best running game: Green Bay Packers
Outstanding player: I get that there are some good young (smaller) RB’s in the division but I am going with Josh Jacobs- Packers, 26 years old, 90 ASWR, 89 SPD, 83 STR, 91 ACC, 86 AGI, 93 CAR, 91 BTK

Best receiving corp: There are some VERY good receivers in this division but I have to go with the Minnesota Vikings
Outstanding player: Justin Jefferson- Vikings, 25 years old, 96 AWR, 92 SPD, 93 ACC, 98 CTH, 97 JMP, 93 AGI, 81 BTK, 64 STR

Best blockers: Detroit Lions
Outstanding player: Penei Sewell- Lions, 24 years old, 97 AWR, 97 STR, 98 RBK, 88 PBK, 69 SPD, 60 AGI, 73 ACC

Best defensive line: Here is the deal, I can not decide who has the best DL so I am going with the Chicago Bears.
Outstanding player: Montez Sweat- Bears, 28 years old, 81 AWR, 89 SPD, 91 ACC, 80 STR, 86 TAK, 82 AGI

Best linebackers: Chicago Bears
Outstanding player: Tremaine Edmunds- Bears, 26 years old, 88 AWR, 87 SPD, 87 ACC, 86 AGI, 90 TAK, 75 STR, 74 CTH

Best defensive backs: I had trouble making a decision here as well. I am going to go wit the Detroit Lions.
Outstanding player: I really like how this rookie looks: Terrion Arnold- Lions, 21 years old, 68 AWR, 90 SPD, 94 ACC, 93 AGI, 58 STR, 78 cth, 88 jmp,71 TAK

Best special teams: Detroit Lions
Outstanding player: Parker White- Lions, 26 years old, 95 KPW, 97 KAC, 50 AWR

Projected divisional standings:
1st: Green Bay Packers- GM Gary Hickman
2nd: Detroit Lions- GM Rodany Mendez
3rd: Chicago Bears- GM Brent Lachapelle
4th: Minnesota Vikings- GM Gary Cohen

Comments: This is another division that I think will be neck and neck all season. It would not surprise me to see the top three teams; the Packers, the Lions and the Bears only be separated by a game or two. The Minnesota Vikings are a team that could end up surprising people and making me look like a fool. This division will be fun to watch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

Best QB: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Dak Prescott- Cowboys, 31 years old, 86 AWR, 90 THP, 87 THA, 90 INJ, 97 TGH

Best running game: Philadelphia Eagles
Outstanding player: Saquon Barkley- Eagles, 27 years old, 94 AWR, 92 SPD, 92 ACC, 94 AGI, 81 STR, 94 CAR, 87 BTK

Best receiving corp: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Cee Dee Lamb- Cowboys, 25 years old, 98 AWR, 90 SPD, 91 ACC, 94 AGI, 70 STR, 97 CTH, 96 JMP, 86 btk

Best blockers: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Tyler Smith- Cowboys, 23 years old, 87 AWR, 72 SPD, 97 STR, 86 PBK, 88 RBK, 80 ACC, 59 ACC

Best defensive line: For me this was a toss up between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders. I sided with the Eagles once I realized DE Jalen Carter is only 23 years old and entering his sophomore season. Philadelphia Eagles
Outstanding player: Jalen Carter- Eagles, 23 years old, 78 AWR, 82 SPD, 94 STR, 78 AGI, 88 ACC, 83 TAK

Best linebackers: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Damone Clark- Cowboys, 24 years old, 77 AWR, 90 SPD, 89 ACC, 67 STR, 80 AGI, 91 TAK

Best defensive backs: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Trevon Diggs- Cowboys, 26 years old, 93 AWR, 92 SPD, 90 ACC, 87 AGI, 69 STR, 86 CTH, 95 JMP, 69 TAK

Best special teams: Dallas Cowboys
Outstanding player: Brandon Aubrey- Cowboys, 29 years old, 97 KPW, 99 KAC, 65 AWR

Projected divisional standings:
1st: Dallas Cowboys- GM Darryl Breckheimer
2nd: Philadelphia Eagles- GM Neal Wintermute
3rd: New York Giants- GM Romeo Mendez
4th: Washington Commanders- GM Oliview Ratajczak

Comments: I think Breck and the Dallas Cowboys are going to be very hard to beat this year. I think they have a GGL bowl appearance within their sights. I think it will be a tough battle for 2nd place but believe the Eagles will find themselves in 2nd place at the end of the season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC South

Best QB: I think the QB’s in this division are interesting. I think the Atlanta Falcons have the most interesting and overall best QB situaion with veteran Kirk Cousins and rookie Michael Penix Jr.
Outstanding player: Michael Penix Jr- Falcons, 24 years old (rookie), 74 AWR, 92 THP, 76 THA, 83 INJ, 81 TGH. Will the somewhat lower INJ and TGH matter? History tell us, they will not matter but this is a new league with new plaer attributes, etc. We shall wait and see.

Best running game: Atlanta Falcons
Outstanding player: Bijan Robinson- Falcons, 22 years old, 74 AWR, 91 SPD, 92 ACC, 81 STR, 89 AGI, 87 CAR, 87 BTK

Best receiving corp: Atlanta Falcons
Outstanding player: I am going with Falcons TE Kyle Pitts. I believe his atheism is going to make him a perfect target for rookie QB Penix Jr. 24 years old, 76 AWR, 91 SPD, 93 ACC, 71 STR, 81 AGI, 86 CTH, 92 JMP

Best blockers: Tampa Bay Bucs
Outstanding player: Tristan Wirfs= Bucs, 25 years old, 95 AWR, 91 STR, 77 SPD, 94 PBK, 89 RBK, 78 ACC, 64 AGI

Best defensive line: New Orleans Saints
Outstanding player: Chase Young- Saints, 25 years old, 85 AWR, 86 SPD, 90 ACC, 86 AGI, 86 STR, 85 TAK

Best linebackers: New Orleans Saints
Outstanding player: Demario Davis- Saints, 35 years old, 98 AWR, 88 SPD, 87 ACC, 93 TAK, 85 STR, 79 Agi

Best defensive backs: Atlanta Falcons
Outstanding player: Jessie Bates III- Falcons, 27 years old, 99 AWR, 90 SPD, 92 ACC, 89 AGI, 83 CTH, 82 TAK, 59 STR

Best special teams: Tampa Bay Bucs
Outstanding player: Chase McLaughlin- Bucs, 28 years old, 95 KPW, 95 KAC, 66 AWR

Projected divisional standings:
1st: Atlanta Falcons- GM Tom Collins
2nd: Tampa Bay Bucs- GM Anthony Fernandez
3rd: New Orleans Saints- GM Darren Roberts
4th: Carolina Panthers- GM Briston Redford

Comments: I believe the Atlanta Falcons and GM Tom Collins have too many weapons on offense to not take the division even with a rookie QB. On their heels no doubt will be the Tampa Bay Bucs and GM Anthony Fernandez as well as the New Orleans Saints and GM Darren Roberts. I believe the Panthers and QB Bryce Young will struggle a bit this season but in the end Young will exit the season as a much better QB making the 2025 season brighter for the Panthers.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC West

Best QB: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Brock Purdy- 49’ers, 25 years old, 88 AWR, 85 THP, 92 THA, 89 INJ, 85 TGH

Best running game: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Christian McCaffrey- 49’ers, 28 years old,99 AWR, 91 SPD, 93 ACC, 95 AGI, 96 CAR, 90 BTK, 74 STR, 83 CTH

Best receiving corp: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Similar as I did in the NFC South, I am going with a TE here in George Kittle. – 49’ers, 31 years old, 97 AWR, 88 SPD, 88 ACC, 82 STR, 84 AGI, 93 CTH, 90 JMP, 81 BTK

Best blockers: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Trent Williams- 49’ers, 36 years old, 99 AWR, 98 STR, 77 SPD, 72 AGI, 75 ACC, 93 PBK, 98 RBK

Best defensive line: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Nick Bosa- 49’ers, 27 years old, 96 AWR, 94 STR, 91 ACC, 88 AGI, 91 TAK, 81 SPD

Best linebackers: San Francisco 49’ers
Outstanding player: Fred Warner- 49’ers, 28 years old, 99 AWR, 88 SPD, 92 ACC, 84 AGI, 76 STR, 90 TAK

Best defensive backs: Seattle Seahawks
Outstanding player: Tariq Woolen- Seahawks, 25 years old, 83 AWR, 97 SPD, 96 ACC, 87 AGI, 60 STR, 82 CTH, 95 JMP, 56 TAK

Best special teams: Arizona Cardinals
Outstanding player: Matt Prater- Cardinals, 40 years old, 98 KPW, 91 KAC|, 65 AWR

Projected divisional standings:
1st: San Francisco 49’ers- GM Camden Roe
2nd: St Louis Rams- GM Justin Herr
3rd: Seattle Seahawks- GM Rock Hewko
4th: Arizona Cardinals- GM Phil Mellon

Comments: I believe the San Francisco 49’ers are very much better than any other team in this division. I do not think it is even close and that is not meant to disrespect any other team or GM. Each GM in this division though has playoff experience outside of the GGL. Could these GM’s rely on their expertise to perhaps overcome the mighty 49’ers? It is possible but in my opinion not likely.
