PICK | TEAM | PLAYER | ANALYSIS |
1.01 | | QB Hunter Leo | Drew Lock was brought in as a veteran stopgap at quarterback, but the St. Louis Rams are on the record of stating they will be going with Leo as the first ever pick in the GGL. I don't think it's a smokescreen and they draft Leo as the heir apparent to Matthew Stafford. |
1.02 | | RT Ezekiel Sexton | There are a lot of good protectors in this class (compared to existing offensive linemen). It's kind of pick your poison, but with a good skew Sexton could end up being one of the best. I think Sexton gets picked here by the Giants. |
1.03 | | CB Jaleel McQueen | Brad Barber likes his tall athletic studs (likely why he has ignored Bryan Mellon's advances so far). McQueen looks like the most physical cornerback in this draft and he's known to stack the deck. I think McQueen goes 3rd overall. |
1.04 | | RE Brian Nicks | The Panthers have a good young team and just need to add the best available talent wherever possible. Nicks is a stud and could make a big difference on their team as they attempt to unseat the Buccaneers and Falcons. |
1.05 | | CB Julius Stevens | Another 6'3" stud that likely goes earlier than some people may have him. Cohen really likes tall athletic players and Stevens may be too much for him to pass up. He ends up a Viking. |
1.06 | | QB Jamal Castille | This is, of course, skew dependent, but if Castille skews the right way he could be a long-term starter and absolute stud for the Arizona Cardinals. The Kyler Murray era is over and Castille seems like a perfect fit. |
1.07 | | DT Artie Dhamania | Dhamania is one of the most athletic defensive tackles these leagues have ever seen. It's a bit high for a defensive tackle, but I think there's a chance someone takes a big swing on him early. |
1.08 | | RT Alex Portilla | It's Joe Burrow or bust in Cincinnati and unlike the real life Bengals, GM Brady Tinnin will likely get adequate protection for his franchise quarterback. Portilla seems like the best fit at this point, his poor athleticism aside. |
1.09 | | QB Vonn Griggs | The big question is where the third quarterback will come off the board. I think we get a bit of a surprise and the Lions decide to move on from Goff. He's on the wrong side of regression and obviously didn't bring positive results last season. |
1.10 | | DT Spencer Hagans | At this point, I'm mostly just guessing on who will go where. Hagans is a defensive stud who will likely make a big difference on a defense. There is a new GM in town. I think GM Ratajczak takes Hagans. |
1.11 | | RT Malik Bloom | If the Raiders want to be successful in this league (spoiler alert, they won't be), they need to get a quality offensive line to defend whoever their quarterback ends up being. Bloom is the best choice left. |
1.12 | | MLB Austin Applewhite | Can we just pause and admire how awesome this is for a name of a GGL player? Austin Applewhite. Feels classic. And he's going to be the future middle linebacker of the Buffalo Bills. He will be an instant stud. |
1.13 | | WR Gio Fallin | I expect the wide receivers to fall in this draft, which may be a surprise to some -- but they really aren't that good. Fallin looks to be the best, mostly because of his size and hands and seems like a great fit for the Seahawks. |
1.14 | | LT Derron Sparks | This is a bit difficult to predict as GM Brent Lachapelle has the Bears in a really good spot moving forward (Caleb Williams is a future MVP). Sparks is a solid pass protector and it makes sense to bulk up the offensive line. |
1.15 | | C Brenton Keys | The Eagles had a down season so it's time to re-tool. They are still looking to the heir apparent for Jason Kelce and I think that Keys may be the best center in the draft. He's ready to go on day one. |
1.16 | | WR Rashad Calmelat | This wide receiver class is very bad. Calmelat may be the second best, purely because of his 6'5" frame. He'd be a tower compared to other Denver Broncos wide receivers, so he's a good selection here. |
1.17 | | WR Von Capps | This may sound crazy (because of his speed), but if it skews up, this dude could be a very strong receiver with a few years of training camp. You'd have to dedicate time, but I could see Capps making a long-term difference. |
1.18 | | RE Junior Sami | Trey Hendrickson wants out in real life, and it may make sense for the Bengals to move him too. Sami could come in abd be a wrecking ball on day one and he's fantastic value at this point of the draft. |
1.19 | | CB Amar'e Eason | I think that Eason is going to be a real stud in this league and the Panthers need to add as much defensive talent as they can. Eason pairs nicely with their earlier defensive line pick and starts immeadiately on day one. |
1.20 | | RT Doug Slaughter | The Lions already drafted their new quarterback, so it's time for them to add a new offensive tackle to protect him. This is about where I expect Slaughter to get drafted and he should be a solid protector for Vonn. |
1.21 | | CB Mike Flinn | GM Neal Wintermute and drafting tall, athletic cornerbacks with potential. Name a better duo, I dare you. Flinn could end up being the "Sean Smith" of this league as the Eagles attempt to get back to the playoffs. |
1.22 | | LT Julius Westbrooks | Jayden Daniels is really good and new GM Chris Jones knows that he's going to have to get him adequate protection if he's going to be successful in this league. Westbrooks is the first of what I would assume would be many offensive line selections. |
1.23 | | MLB Davis Allison | Middle linebackers used to drop in these drafts because of being hardlocked into their positions, but because of the new position change rules, Allison may see himself going higher than previously. Though I expect him to be a good fit at MLB. |
1.24 | | CB Jaren Wylie | GM Nathan Jones has had success drafting fast and smart cornerbacks who aren't tall athletic freaks. Wylie is a nice middle ground and seems like the exact player that the Jaguars will want to draft. |
1.25 | | LT James Mahan | There is a big need at offensive tackle for the 49ers and as long as Mahan's strength does not skew down, he's a salvagable prospect with some development. Mahan likely goes around this point due to his supreme blocking ability. |
1.26 | | QB Kofi Odenigbo | Don't look now, but there's not a single quarterback on the Jets roster. Obviously they'll be looking for a replacement and Odenigbo seems like the best player for them to add at this juncture. He should be a solid starter. |
1.27 | | CB Alex Galippo | Galippo should probbaly go higher in the draft, but his size will dissuade GMs from taking him. He should end up being a quality starter for the Colts given the opportunity to start and train as soon as possible. |
1.28 | | WR Terrelle Beach | The Chiefs need new targets for Mahomes to pass to and even though this draft isn't the best for receivers, Beach seems like the best available. I bet GM Anthony Cepparulo jumps on him. |
1.29 | | MLB William Dieter | The Chiefs will have to add a middle linebacker at some point as well. This could possibly be Devin McIntosh, but I think Dieter gets the slight nod because of his increased speed in comparison. |
1.30 | | WR Alex Free | Miami is retrofitting their offense a bit after falling just short of the Super Bowl. I think Alex Free is a fantastic player for this spot who could immeadiately find himself playing in the slot. |
1.31 | | WR Nick Covert | I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs double dip on receivers this late in the first round. Covert could be a covert pick with a really good private workout. Something to keep an eye on for the Chiefs. |
1.32 | | HB Tre Mixon | What do you do after winning the Super Bowl? Draft the best running back in the draft after all the running backs drop for not being elite talent. Mixon should be a great addition to the Champs. |
