Initial Bidding
The very first stage is a blind bid on as many players as you like. You can withdraw offers during Initial Bidding, but not after. If you withdraw an offer, you can no longer make offers on that player in any subsequent phase of pre-draft free agency.
Top 3 Bidding
Once initial bidding is over the site then determines the top 3 bidders. The teams will receive a PM with the heading 'I'm Interested, Keep Talking'. This gives those teams in the top 3 the opportunity to increase their bid if they so wish.
If you win a player by being the only bidder, then you need do nothing else until the signing phase.
Winning Bids
Once all winning bids have been determined you may then sign the player to the below contact details.
Bidding and Contracts
All bids are 3 years in length. The winning bid is the largest total salary. First tie breaker is total bonus. The second tie breaker is the time the bid was submitted. Final tie breaker is the first bid to hit the database (as that is the bid the database will give me if the timestamp is the same).
When signing your FA to an actual contract, the total salary must be as large (per year) as the bid. If I made a $15m bid, my 4-year contract would have to be $20m. The same restriction apply to the bonus offered; if I made a $3m bonus offer, my 4-year contract would require a $4m bonus. At least 20% of the contract must be made up of the bonus, e.g. A $25M contract comes with a $5M bonus.
Contract length has the following restrictions:
Players aged <= 29: ----3 to 5 years
Players aged > 29: ----1 to 5 years |
