Raiders see new faces on offense |
Although there are still some questions along the offensive line, and more importantly, who is going to be the quarterback this year and going forward, GM Brandon Lindgren stayed active adding pieces to the roster.
Among the first moves made this off-season was adding LT Luke Goedeke from Tampa Bay. Not quite a stud, he is a step or two above two of the other tackles on the roster. He is 27 years old and on the last year of his contract, so this is going to be a prove it year for him.

Tampa Bay and Las Vegas came together for another room, and this brought in a true WR1 for the Raiders, as well as a future first round pick. Trey Palmer figures to pair nicely with stud tight end Brock Bowers. Rumor has it that Bowers might be willing to make the move to wide receiver this season. The combination of his size (6'3", 230lbs) and SPD (90) are pretty uncommon these days, plus there is still room for improvement with some training camp visits. Trey Palmer (6', 192lbs) attributes are as follows:
95 SPD , 78 AWR, 81 AGI, 93 ACC, 86 CTH
Lastly, the Raiders added veteran running back Alvin Kamara from the New Orleans Saints. He might be on the downside of his career, but the team thinks he can still had some value to the backfield, both as a runner and a pass catcher. His SPD (86) isn't desirable, but his leadership and playmaking abilities will help the team.

Raiders Revamp Defense |
With the arrival of new head coach Pete Carroll, GM Brandon Lindgren and coaching staff looked to bring in a new look on the defensive side of the ball. The offensive side still has a lot of questions marks, but in the first wave of free agency, the Raiders added some serious talent. In this article we're going to give a quick projection of what that defensive lineup might look like heading into the season. Players marked with an (*) are new to the squad this year. The battle for the nickel corner spot is open since Nate Hobbs has recently been traded.

LE: Maxx Crosby -- 6'5", 255 pounds
86 SPD, 85 STR, 99 AWR, 84 AGI, 89 ACC, 99 TAK.
The defensive line is bringing back three guys who totaled 39 sacks just a season ago, led by 18 from perennial All-Pro Maxx Crosby. He probably should've been DPOY as well, but that's an argument for another time. The other three defensive lineman on the roster tallied 16 sacks and 6 forced fumbles a year ago.
At the second level, each of the three projected starters have a tendency to disrupt plays in the backfield, as well as force turnovers, both interceptions and fumbles alike. The team will look to force even more turnovers this year as well as get more QB pressure from the linebacker spots.
At the corners, the Raiders are losing their top interceptions guy from last year in Nate Hobbs. And while he looks to continue his stellar play on Minnesota, the Raiders are confident that the five guys remaining will be ball hawks.
The safety position will have a crucial role on this defense. From taking the ball away to making some big hits, these two starters will be tasked with making opposing quarterbacks hesitant to throw the ball over the middle. And to make receivers a little scared as well. |
