2025 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS DRAFT CLASS
2025 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS DRAFT CLASS

1.3- QB Von Griggs
Ht:6'1"
WT: 224 lbs.
AGE: 23
COLLEGE: Texas
OVR:
61 AWR/95 THP/84 THA

Von Griggs may have been a reach to some but I felt there were 3 QB's in this class at the top and then a drop off. Griggs age was the only real rturnoff for me, his AWR is above average, he has a rocket arm and above average THA to go along with better than most INJ which we loves (due to the Brian Brohm PTSD). I didn't have a preference to any of the 3 QB's and would have been happy with any of them, we're just ecstatic to finally have a franchise QB in N'orlans. His arrival has promted Saints ownership to use a cap free transaction and we are cutting QB Derek Carr from the Saints organization but we wish him luck on his new team!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.2- LG Eric Roundtree
HT: 6'1"
WT: 308 lbs.
AGE: 23
COLLEGE: Michigan
OVR:
53 SPD/97 STR/56 AWR/68 AGI/71 ACC/82 PBK/84 RBK

Roundtree will come in and immediately start at the LG position which is his natural position anyways, always a plus. He lacks ideal size and his 53 SPD is nothing to right home about but that 97 STR more than makes up for his lack of stature. He is also one of the more athletic OL in this class with quick feet and excellent burst off the line. He's an above average run and pass blocker with much room for improvement and should be blocking for Griggs for 10+ years or at least that's the hope.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.9- RG Avery Woody
HT: 6'5"
WT: 316 lbs.
AGE: 24
COLLEGE: Arizona State
OVR:
67 SPD/90 STR/50 AWR/49 AGI/73 ACC/78 PBK/81 RBK

We continue to build depth in the trenches and there was slim pickens in the 5th round. I wasn't a huge fan of Woody's advanced age (24) or his minescule AGI (49) but the rest of his attributes look solid and should serve as a decent backup for us until we can find a permanent starter at the position but I really like him as a solid depth piece.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.1- LE Chuck Doubs
HT: 6'6"
WT: 274 lbs.
AGE: 22
COLLEGE: LSU
OVR:
75 SPD/78 STR/50 AWR/69 AGI/76 ACC/62 TAK

Doubs was a blind pick but not terrible, he'll be solid depth behind stud LE Chase Young. I liked his size, none of his attributes are outstanding and I just don't see any of the DE worth sending to training camp but like I said these are just depth.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7.7- WR Sam Puamau
HT: 6'3"
WT: 203 lbs.
AGE: 24
COLLEGE: Illinois
OVR:
87 SPD/60 STR/47 AWR/83 AGI/87 ACC/74 CTH/86 JMP/51 BTK/88 KR

Definitely not a wasted pick here, he's 6'3" and although he doesn't provide excellent SPD, he has decent hands, excellent JMP ball skills and doubles as a KR/PR. His AWR is abysmal but I've dealt with worse in other leagues. Again not going to start in any capacity (possibly as a returner) but solid depth like most of these guys.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7.20- RE Pat Pounds
HT: 6'3"
WT: 255 lbs.
AGE: 22
COLLEGE: Penn State
OVR:
67 SPD/72 STR/47 AWR/83 AGI/87 ACC/69 TAK

It's too bad his SPD is so low because I'd like to put some time in on him but with many solid younger defensive ends I just don't think I'll have the time. His 67 SPD is in the DT category, not too worried with the 47 AWR as many start off terrible but that AGI and ACC are awesome and his 69 TAK is decent. DL should be good to go for the season.

The New Orleans Saints Free Agency/Trades/Draft Prep

Leaving Pittsburgh was a hard thing to do, we loved our 1st year there but being so attached to the team and players we knew we wouldn't have moved any players due to personal connections so we packed our bags and took over as the Saints GM. The first line of business was go after a QB, we knew it was going to be damn near impossible to pry a top QB unless we had the 1st overall pick.

The next best thing was the draft, so we waited for the draft class to come out and saw there were 3 QB's imo worthy of a top spot but also knew 1.7 was not going to land us a QB so we made some trades that helped us get to where we needed to be in order to select a top notch signal caller and we will get 1 of the 3.

FREE AGENCY

FB Peyton Hendershot (Pro Bowl- KAN) 5 year 15M, 4.2M Bonus (2.03M cap hit)
HT: 6'4"
WT: 254 lbs.
AGE: 26
COLLEGE: Indiana
OVR: 91
SPD 81 STR 72 AWR 64 AGI 85 ACC 88 CTH 78 CAR 74 PBK 50 RBK 58

Hendershot was a shock to me that we just got a 26 year old pro bowler with no other bidders. I know the position isn't monumental but anytime you can get studs of his caliber on your roster it's a positive. He will bring help to the run game as he had 39 PAN blocks with 0 sacks allowed. He will pave the way for AJ Dillon and Jamal Williams.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FS Jordan Fuller (CAR) 3 years 23.1M, 6M Bonus (6.29M cap hit)
HT: 6'2"
WT: 203 lbs.
AGE: 27
COLLEGE: Ohio State
OVR: 89
SPD 89 STR 59 AWR 83 AGI 80 ACC 86 CTH 73 JMP 85 TAK 72

Fuller had 2 other bidders vying for his services but in the end we made him an offer he couldn't refuse. He'll be our starting FS after dealing FS Tyrann Mathieu. We really like Fuller height at the position along with his athletic ability. His CTH and TAK are also big pluses for us, he should have no problems working with Smith, Adebo and Howden in the secondary.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RB A.J. Dillon (GNB) 3 years 23.1M, 6M Bonus (6.29M cap hit)
HT: 6'0"
WT: 247 lbs.
AGE: 27
COLLEGE: Boston College
OVR: 85
SPD 88 STR 85 AWR 76 AGI 79 ACC 87 CTH 68 CAR 95 BTK 82

I think he can be a real difference maker for us, he's a big bruising back capable of playing in a 3 down role. He was just a spot duty specialist in GB but we envision big things and hope he's a nightmare for opposing defenses to game plan against. The addition of Dillon made Kamara expendable but wish him luck in Oakland.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TRADES

The trade 1.7, 1.27, 4.7 to the in exchange for 1.3
REASON:

We moved up in the draft to select 1 of 3 top tier QB's in this draft class, who knows what next years class will look like and there's no guarantee I'll be drafting this high again so we're shooting for the moon here. We first off thank GM Ian Coyle for trading with us and hope he has a fun draft with all those choices to make now. We've Identified our top 3 QB's , worked out all of them that we thought were worthy and we'll get 1 of the 3, we have an idea but until they actually get drafted we're very happy to have either of them since the drop off in QB's after the 3 seem to be steep imo.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The trade FS Tyrann Mathieu to the in exchange for 6.1
REASON:

He should be a solid starter for the Titans no doubt but after signing FS Jordan Fuller in free agency he became expendable and we shed over 9M+ in cap space. We'll get a cheap roster filler with the pick that should help with the depth of the roster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The trade RB Alvin Kamara to the in exchange for 5.9
REASON:

Alvin Kamara was actually a really productive back for us and if his cap hit were a little more manageable we would have like to have kept him but we saved 18.5M in cap space but the raiders had really no worries with cap space, we wish him well in Vegas. Again we'll use these late picks to fill in cheap depth, hopefully get a diamond in the rough type of player.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The trade 6.7 to the in exchange for CB Kyler Gordon
REASON:

Gordon is a solid depth player who can come in if needed in case of a depleted secondary. I don't like this draft class very much for corners aside from the top batch so we thought we add a veteran player instead and Gordon seemed like a solid fit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DRAFT

Well we only really have two decent top tier picks with 1.3 and 2.7, we're taking our franchise QB at 1.3 and we can go in various different directions at 2.7 where we'll take a look at WR, OL, DL , LB and S and whoever we have as our top rated player left on the board when we pick is who we'll take.... As simple as that. The rest will all be depth fillers. Good luck to everyone in the draft aside from the Falcons, Panthers and Bucs that is.
